Lady Gaga swept the U.K.’s Brit Awards Tuesday winning three categories and offering an emotional tribute to Alexander McQueen, the British fashion designer who died last week. At points, the ‘Pokerface’ singer appeared overcome with emotion and even paid tribute to McQueen as she collected her first prize — referring to the designer by the name Lee. “Thank you to Lee McQueen,” Gaga said, her voice strained. Later, she performed wearing a towering white wig and nearly nude lace outfit. “This is for Alexander McQueen,” she said. Watch:

Dylan, Mellencamp, Baez Bring Civil Rights Songs to White House

Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, John Mellencamp, Smokey Robinson, Jennifer Hudson, Will.i.am and more artists took the stage earlier this week in Washington, DC, for a Black History Month special titled “In Performance at the White House: A Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement,” which aired last night on PBS. The concert was originally scheduled to take place on February 10th, but the threat of the northeast blizzard forced the production to film one day earlier. All of the performances are streaming now on the PBS Website.

Taking inspiration from a would-be blizzard, Lady Gaga helped kick off Fashion Week at amfAR’s New York gala to honor Elton John and benefit AIDS research Wednesday night as a woman in white — white cap, white hair, white jacket, white bra, white panties, white boots, and white pearls, powder, and paint all over her ensemble and exposed skin. But once she took the stage, her new look became part of her performance.

LL Cool J Is Glad Hip-Hop Was ‘Embraced’ On ‘We Are The World’ Remake

In case anyone was wondering if Barbra Streisand and Kanye West could make sweet music together, they’ll find out when the star-filled remake of “We Are the World” premieres Friday during the opening ceremony of the Olympics. Thanks to some lyrics from hip-hop legend LL Cool J, the hip-hop community appears to be well represented on the track, which will benefit earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
